The husband is a native of Genoa, Italy, and the wife had come to share his love of that historic city. This led the clients to request a classical street façade inspired by the architecture of Genoese palazzi.
SGW sought out antique books detailing the stone ornamentation of Genoese buildings of the 15th to 18th centuries, and in particular the Palazzo Giorgio d'Oria, the Palazzo Cambasio, the Villa Paradiso, and the Palazzo Reale were carefully studied.

The deep bracketed overhang of the clay tile roof also provides a very Italian feeling to the façade, reminiscent of the tower houses of northern Italy.
The home’s interior features traditional paneling and stair details and ceilings ornamented with classical plaster trim work and crowns.
The rear of the home opens onto a stone paved terrace laced with ribbons of grass, with an outdoor fireplace and stairs to a garage roof deck.
